84 miles to Conchas Lake today, including 3,222 of ascent. We packed up camp in Las Vegas, on the road about 7:30. The landscape has totally changed.
1,300 descent in reward for our climbing efforts.
We stopped for lunch with 30 miles left and had tuna, sardines, and anchovies. We had a nasty head/cross wind the entire ride which definitely slows us down.
20 miles from camp we hit ‘the wall’ (this name was spray painted on the road) – a 700 foot climb in 0.8 miles.
Then we got to camp… A few minutes after arriving, it poured. Sergio rode another 10 miles for water because the spicket tastes like sewer (literally). We both chugged water when we arrived and now we likely need new water bottles too as they also smell like sewer.
We dried out the tent with clothes we’re not planning to wear tomorrow. Hopefully no more rain this evening.
Not much of a reward for a big day in the saddle. Looks like nice country.

What amazing scenery. And great photos. Thanks for all of that. I’m not going to ask about the new tires. Don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t flat… That’s my policy. I’m going to try to talk to some people and see if we can’t send a tailwind your way. Look for it!
